Which haruhi character are you

Sometimes the story is about the main protagonist, and the normal character that connects to the existence or destruction of the world. Absolutely no effort is spent by anyone to gain all the magical powers. They just have it.

Usually, people outside of this tight nit group is not aware of their super powers, and goes on with their daily lives. So there you have it. Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi is made along these lines which became the success formula for comics and anime in Japan.

Even though it follows a pat formula, the series is superbly crafted and the episodes are always set in an interesting back drop within the normal social settings which always morphs into unusual circumstances surrounding Haruhi Suzumiya.

Each player in the story brings some unusual insight into the daily life that usually we are not aware of. The philosophical twist of their insights are what makes this series extra entertaining. The visuals are first rate, and done beautifully. The crazy ideas Haruhi always seem to come up with along with complicated settings of the story may give you headache from time to time.

It's further complicated by the fact that the episodes are played out of sequence which further adds to the confusion. When I watched the episodes in the chronological sequence, some of the plots finally made sense. I recommend you do the same. It's much more entertaining to watch the series this way. And oh, you might notice the headache while you're watching this like I did. Let me know if you had it too.

My first experience with haruhi was the movie, which I though was excellent and left me wondering what the hell it was all about. The result was I purchase the TV-Series and had an excellent time. There is one set of eight episodes which repeat, which can get tiring.

For a first watch you need to watch all the episodes, but on subsequent watches you can easily skip. This is a very enjoyable story, nothing mind bending and no action, but a lot of fun. This is also totally family friendly with virtually no fan service. While normally I would suggest you should watch everything in their correct order, try the movie first and then come back to the TV-Series. For me it worked very well. If you're looking for a entertaining light-hearted for the most part and comedic anime then look no further as you have a great one right here.

This series has already been out for a few years so the basic premise of the story shouldn't be a surprise to anyone but the annoying part before this set was trying to get it into an anime fans library for a decent price and not be paying an arm and a leg for it.

Appreciated that they added both the first and second seasons to this entertaining series as while the first season was a bit pricey it was somewhat affordable but what sellers were asking for the second season set was beyond outrageous. The animation and soundtrack fit nicely together and are done very well as the animation has a mix of the anime series Clannad and Haganai and the soundtrack keeps a level paced tempo with the usual comedic outputs during certain humorous scenes.

The voice cast both for the subbed and dubbed are very talented and performed voicing their character roles nicely. Some English dubbed voices you are sure to have heard from video games like Crispin Freeman and Johnny Bosch both very talented as well as two other long standing talented anime voice actresses Wendee Lee and Michelle Ruff.

So for fans who were looking to complete their collection of this entertaining series or those looking for an entertaining series then here you have one that's well worth adding to your anime collection. The first season of "Haruhi Suzumiya" is guaranteed to cheer you up with cute sexual innuendos, scientific mumbo-jumbo and a symbolic religious message hidden underneath the fan service.

The show is based on an oddball story, focusing on a high school boy named Kyon, who meets an unusual high school girl named Haruhi Suzumiya. The girl is a strange firebrand, who is more interested in aliens, espers psychics and time travelers than in actual humans. Somehow, Kyon strikes up an unusual friendship with this girl.

However, Kyon never planned on getting involved with starting up Haruhi's own club, the S. The club's mission is to spread happiness around the world, through all the fetishes that anime geeks would love. And an adorable time traveler girl with big breasts.

The show pretty much covers all of Kyon's experiences with Haruhi, the bossy dominatrix who may have mysterious powers of her own.

Although it is hard to discuss this series without revealing some major spoilers, the show is a major hit with college anime clubs in America for many reasons. The first episode is a big home movie spoof, where the high school characters try to act like Haruhi's favorite anime characters in an embarrassing film project loaded with weird jokes.

The ending credit sequence features the funniest and most infamous anime dance, performed by Haruhi and the other members of the S. And the philosophical members of the S. Brigade always treat Haruhi like she's a supernatural being who has the willpower to change humanity as we know it.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is an anime that left quite the impression on me. Then there's the somewhat insane titular character who is something else: a headstrong, almost amoral, girl with ridiculous amounts of talent and a secret that she's not aware of. The set-up for the series is a bit of a mind-trip. Essentially Suzumiya, unbeknown to herself, is a sort of super-powerful being, capable of god-like feats of creation and destruction, as she can destroy and rebuild reality to her whim.

Searching for adventure, she claims three more unusual members, each with secrets and they all end up being dragged into her crazy schemes. There is a bit of crazy, but enjoyable, philosophic consideration early on as we debate whether the world is merely Haruhi's creation as she gets bored of the old one and whether our characters exist to serve her or serve her to continue to exist or whether they could exist without her.

It's a bit of a conundrum, but an enjoyable one all the same. The art is clean and in line with what I've come to expect from the anime that typically gets imported to the US; I like the character designs and while there isn't a whole lot of action in the series, I think it sits better that way. The series is narrated from the mind of Kyon and he doesn't play an omniscient narrator but only comments on what he knows and what he feels.

He's has a lot going on in his head, but he doesn't actually speak a whole lot so it's good that we get to hear it. The voice acting in the English dub is acceptable enough, but I prefer the Japanese acting over it. There are some stranger aspects to the series, some of which both parodies and traffics in fanboy-ism, which I found amusing.

For the first season, I have to admit that there's a lack of closure, as the series doesn't really have an larger story arc, but seems to take things one at a time, so it's an easy series to pick up and put down, although I think that because of its rather entertaining qualities, it's still quite hard to put down. It's also based on a series of light novels and the author was directly involved in the writing of the series.

Even though it's based on the novels, I still wish that the over series had stronger story arcs, but I love how naturally we get to watch these characters develop and how well the series can play out the quiet moments as well as the crazier ones. Seeing Haruhi grow herself was quite a treat as well as watching the relationships develop between the SOS Brigade Haruhi's club. It's not for everyone, due to its mind-twisting premise and "extra-ordinary beings in a mundane world" setting.

More please. The Animation holds up fairly well for an 11 year old series and is well done, It's story is refreshingly odd and enjoyable, the characters grow and develop and even the filler episodes end up being part of the larger story later on down the road. All in all well worth watching and I'd also suggest the follow up movie and spin off series.

Shostakovich 10 March What a puzzlingly mixed bag "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" is. From a fine premise and set-up, it manages to go absolutely nowhere. A diverse group of teenagers going on adventures with a suggested hint of existentialism -- anime's bread and butter. How can you mess that up? Things start out fine. We witness the clueless but lovable student Kyon be drawn to his eccentric classmate Haruhi Suzumiya.

She is fed up with her boring life, and would rather be dealing with supernatural creatures aliens, time travellers, espers than school. Her behaviour is as endearing as it is forceful. Haruhi acts as if the world revolves around her, and in an amusing plot twist we learn that it very well might. Haruhi and Kyon become founding members of the 'SOS Brigade', a school club devoted to the supernatural. They are joined by book girl Nagato, bait maid Mikuru, and easy-going exchange student Koizumi.

In an humorous trio of sequences, they each meet up with Kyon and reveal themselves to be an alien, a time traveller, and an esper respectively. They have come to observe Haruhi, who may have the power to alter reality. Not bad as premises go, right? Alas, most of these characters go nowhere. The three girls are stereotypes and remain that way. Koizumi shows glimpses of underlying feelings, but those never surface. Only Kyon ends up with a better sense of what he wants from his friends and from life.

But much potential goes to waste. Their adventures, too, are a so-so bunch. High points include a murder mystery that deftly balances humour and disturbing undertones, and a truly revelatory action climax set to Mahler's eighth symphony. Why a series' peak should be overcome in episode six eludes me, but the harmony between story and music is so powerful that I was willing to forgive "Haruhi" anything at that moment.

And then we arrive at the time loop episodes. There are rules for writing a time loop story. Good examples like "Groundhog Day" and the Star Trek episode "Cause and Effect" make a point of increasing the pace and introducing new information as time repeats itself, to ensure things stay interesting.

The slight pleasure of seeing a cast of attractive boys and girls clad in eight different sets of bathing wear doesn't come close to offsetting the crushing tedium.

From there on, the series stumbles through a nondescript 'school festival' arc and some single episodes to an awkward conclusion. Impressive, almost, how utterly lost "Haruhi" seems at the end. Its story runs as smoothly as a Belgian highway surface, and its characters end up nowhere Let's say in Charleroi. It is good to note that many of the mentioned flaws were dramatically improved upon in the sequel film "The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya".

But that film's proficiency only puts the dreariness of the series in contrast. The fabulous roundup of "Disappearance" may actually make the whole "Haruhi" affair worth watching, but "Melancholy" in itself is far too inconsistent to be recommendable.

What about more general personality traits? Imaginative, intelligent, and confident, Haruhi seems to have endless energy. She values fun, knowledge, new experiences, and new ideas to the point of being very impractical. Despite usually being loud and rowdy, Haruhi does have good, polite communication skills on the rare instances she chooses to use them.

For this reason, she is quick to make decisions. Despite being impractical and impulsive, Haruhi is quite intelligent. According to Koizumi, she excels both athletically and academically. She even seems to find group homework somewhat fun. On a similar note, this teenager possesses good sense and rationality. However, she choses to override it much of the time in the name of being unusual. Koizumi says the following in episode 5. She is indeed eccentric in her speech and conduct, but she is a normal person with rational reasoning.

Haruhi has a number of negative traits that stand out. But the worst problem, in my opinion, is her tendency to be a bully. Haruhi seems to bully people with compliant personalities like Mikuru. Clearly, Haruhi has serious issues. This is a good time to note that Haruhi is widely considered autistic.

Not everyone with ASD experiences problems with empathy, but there does seem to be a significant correlation. Whether or not she has ASD, Haruhi ought to be working on improving her social habits.

Though her problems are pronounced, she is not without redeeming qualities. Even if she was a thorough anti-hero, I would still be interested in her character and consider some things about her admirable.

Haruhi knows what she wants and goes after it unwaveringly. In addition, this girl is unique. If you want to achieve faster-than-light travel, let Haruhi on your spaceship. I just feel like she was meant to be hated lol. She's my least favourite character in the series. I don't care for this series at all and she's the worst part of it for me.

I mean kyon too finds her annoying lol. Well, I don't share the same opinion as you but you're certainly not the only one who thinks like that. I find her very annoying in that movie making arc but after Kyon and Haruhi made up I'm okay with her again. Her being what she is what the show sells imo, would be very boring without her. Kyon in the meanwhile is basically all of us viewers. The series was absurd as a whole, has a bit of everything and very entertaining. Its called the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya after all.

BBCode said the lolicon bastard. I would have left the club then and there when she hit mikuru BBCode. Funnysilverballs Offline Joined: Feb Posts: Yes I totally agree.

She is the most annoying character I have ever come across in my anime journey. Never once did I come to a conclusion she was sad or feeling melancholic. The show never elaborated on her stresses. The disappearance of Haruhi. Never once did I care or will care if she disappeared due to how her character is written. Her vulnerability was never expressed. And if the writer wanted her to be annoying then I guess good on them BBCode. But I am Haruhi also, because I still believe that there must be something extraordinary in this world Kyon don't think like this now, he used to think like this in his childhood , but I don't act crazy like her.

I am Yuki, because sometimes, I like to sit silently, reading books. But I like to be Kyon, surrounded by extraordinary things!! And like to live normal and adventurous together!

And nice quiz btw!!! Pretty happy with the results. My main one was Mikuru. AnimeFan66 said: I am more percent Kyon. Followed by Itsuki..
