Where is hanuman jayanti celebrated

Hanuman Jayanti Date: Hanuman Jayanti, which falls on April 27 this year, is celebrated as the birth of Lord Hanuman, known to be one of the biggest devotees of Lord Ram. While every year, the festival is observed with much fervour, this year, amid the rising cases of coronavirus and pandemic restrictions in place with several states observing strict lockdowns, devotees have to observe the festival at their home.

The festival is celebrated on the 15th day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Chaitra of the Hindi calendar. This is one of the easiest ways of appeasing the god. People also light a diya with ghee and pour mustard oil on the idol of Lord Hanuman and sing bhajans, arti and chalisa while worshipping Lord Hanuman.

On Hanuman Jayanti, devotees worship Lord Hanuman as a divine creature. This celebration has lots of importance to Brahmacharis, wrestlers, and bodybuilders.

Hanuman is the 11th Rudra avatar of Lord Shiva. People believe that by offering prayers to Lord Hanuman on this special day, one will seek his and Lord Rama's blessings. There have been countless tales showcasing Hanuman's devotion to Lord Rama. Lord Hanuman was born to Devi Anjani and Kesari. He is also known as Anjaneya, Maruti, and Bajrangbali.

In his childhood itself, Bajrangbali is said to have mastered all four Vedas. When Ravana abducted Sita, the wife of Lord Rama, it was Hanuman who crossed the ocean by taking a giant leap in the air in search of her.

The day is observed twice a year. It is celebrated on Chaitra Poornima in southern India while the day is observed on Narak Chaturdashi or Krishna Paksh in the northern region. But Lord Hanuman emerged victorious as he not only destroyed the Ashoka Vatika and killed many soldiers including his son, he even set Lanka on fire with his tail.
