What you think as not shooting too much, could be beyond the duty cycle specs of the flash. If the flash has to recharge an essentially drained capacitor, it will be pulling a LOT of current from the batteries, photoj79 That is because as I understand it, the SB does not have a thermal disconnect.

The basic issue is heat dissipation, or specifically the lack of it. The plastic case of the flash is an excellent insulator. But in this case, it keeps the heat that is generated INSIDE the flash rather than dissipating the heat to the external air. UL and other safety and law suit concerns for a consumer flash limit what can be done. You also need the vents located such that the air will vent the hot air OUT. Holes in the wrong place will do little if anything to dissipate the heat.

Heat transfer methods will add complexity and cost to the flash. If there is a component failure, the metal heat sink could become "live" with electricity and shock the users. That depends on what you define as a PRO flash.

It is NOT a high duty cycle flash. Here are some of the things that high duty cycle flashes do to get that high duty cycle, and they are all "bad things" for something aimed at consumers. When Nikon SB Speedlight was released, it was claimed to be the utmost strobe around, even by the utmost and fierce competitors.
